I have a Masters Degree in Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology from AUT University, Auckland. I have worked in mental health as a counselling psychologist, working with individuals, families and running groups.
I am registered within the Counselling Psychology scope of practice with the New Zealand Psychologists Board. I am also a member of the New Zealand Psychological Society and the Institute of Counselling Psychology.
I am experienced in working with clients who are living through any of the following: depression, anxiety and worry, high levels of stress, low self-esteem, all types of trauma and abuse, weight management issues, life transitions, relationship difficulties, job difficulties, anger problems and sleep problems. I work with adults, couples, families as well as adolescents and children using a range of therapeutic treatment approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), EMDR and Solution Focused Therapy. When we meet we will discuss which treatment approach works best for you. I am passionate about supporting the uniqueness of each client. My therapeutic approach is solution-focused and goal-oriented. Where appropriate, I use mindfulness and relaxation in client sessions, and find these to be valuable tools, which enable clients to deal more positively with their life issues.
